In this video, Peter Hamilton Integration Manager for Atos at London 2012, explains the challenges around providing real-time data during the Games and how Atos tackled the various issues.

Atos’ recent Ascent report: a vision of sport and technology, forecasted that by the time of the Olympic Games in 2020, the data transmitted will increase 3000% compared to current volumes. That forecast was underpinned by our experience at London 2012, where there was a 30% increase in the messages on the Olympic Data Feed in comparison to the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008.

Over the six Olympic Games that Atos has been the Worldwide IT Partner for the International Olympic Committee, requirements have evolved continuously as the usage of IT has changed fundamentally. Both the IOC and Atos have constantly adjusted to accommodate such developments and take advantage of the resulting opportunities.
